CIRCLE HOOK UPDATE   
As most of you have probably heard, the Federal Government will require the use of non-offset circle hooks in billfish tournaments when using natural baits (dead or live) or natural baits in combination with lures or skirts. This rule goes into effect January 1, 2007. As a tournament with billfish categories, we will be complying with this rule.

There's plenty of information on the web regarding the rule. Simply type "NMFS Circle Hook Regulations" into any search engine. There is also a great article in the November issue of Marlin magazine by Dave Ferrell called Embrace the Circle that shows several techniques for rigging natural bait with circle hooks.

If you've never used circle hooks, now's the time to start learning the new techniques so you'll be ready for the 2007 Tournament Season. We're looking into hosting circle hook seminars early next year and will announce time and locations in a future newsletter.
