The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin supports the Harvest House by donating meatfish weighed during the tournament to their food bank, and The Billfish Foundation by donating cash funds raised through raffles, auctions and other activities.
Harvest House is a 20-year-old organization that reaches
out to those in the community who have fallen on hard
times by providing food, clothing and household items
along with financial assistance for prescriptions and
utilities. The Harvest House serves nearly 500 clients each
year with the purpose of reaching out with compassion
without compromising dignity. Local churches, businesses
and local residents in the Destin community provide most
of the donated items and food. For more information
about Harvest House, call Lainie Erickson at 850.837.2277 or e-mail isaiah.58@earthlink.net.
The Billfish Foundation is a non-profit organization with a
very clear objective—the conservation and enhancement
of billfish populations worldwide through scientific
research, education and advocacy. The Foundation
supports the development of an international network
and action plan to stop the over-exploitation of billfish
worldwide and return stocks to levels of healthy
abundance on a continuing basis. For more information
