Multiply Your Chances to be a Champion

The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin is not just one of the top tournaments in the Gulf of Mexico—it also plays a larger role as a sanctioned event in several prestigious tournament series and competitions.

On the international front, the ECBC has been sanctioned by the World Billfish Series as part of the Gulf of Mexico Division since its inception in 2003, and is also sanctioned by the Offshore World Championship, with the event’s winners invited to participate in the OWC in Quepos, Costa Rica in 2015.

In the very competitive Gulf region, it’s a part of the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship, a series of five select tournaments with a hand-crafted trophy awarded to the winners each year.

New this year is the expanded race for the InTheBite Captain of the Year Cup. Now in its 12th season, the Captain of the Year is one of the top awards in sportfishing for the professional captain. In 2014, InTheBite magazine expanded this to include winners in each of four geographic regions: the East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, International and Florida (the ECBC is part of the Gulf of Mexico division).

You can’t beat the feeling of being a tournament champion, becoming a permanent part of that tournament’s legacy—except for when that championship gives you leverage to become part of an even more exclusive club. The more tournaments you fish in a series, the more chances you have to win, so make sure the ECBC is on your schedule. Register today!
